Hailing from good ole Sussex County, Delaware, Captain Blue’s Grass Band (CBGB) strives to keep classic American culture breathing through their lively picking, soaring vocals, and heartfelt harmonies. Armed with nothing but acoustic instruments and their voices, Captain Blue's Grass Band has been turning heads across the peninsula for over a decade with their own foot stompin' funky blend of Americana, Folk and Rock n' Roll. Joey Todd (Vocals/Bass), Joshua Rose (Vocals/Harmonica/Guitar) and C.J. Cutsail (Vocals/Guitar) captivate audiences from stages of all sizes in every corner of the Delmarva Peninsula by singing tales of love and loss, mystery and adventure, gambling and betrayal, beauty and horror, and life and death. It may not be pretty, but it's real.

It all started with an open jam on Tuesday nights at a closed to the public bar in Blades, DE in 2012; a ton of liquid courage, a lineup of some of the areas best talent, a passion for exploration, recreational experimentation, as well as a Captain suffering a mutiny. 2013 brought about their first main-stage festival performance at the 4th Annual Good Beer Festival in Salisbury, MD. In 2014, Captain Blue's Grass Band played at some of the region's best festivals. Including the 35th Annual June Jam, where they not only performed, but also sang the National Anthem in 3 part harmony. They also performed at the 8th Annual Oswald Festival of Influences, as well as wrote, recorded, and produced their debut double-EP, "The All-American Grilled Cheese Sandwich," released on June 14th, 2014. It received airplay on several regional radio stations including WZBH-FM, WDVR-FM, WCTG-FM and WOCM-FM. Captain Blue's Grass Band kept the train rolling in 2015 by returning for the 36th Annual June Jam, performing at Dover Down's Beer Fest, and Jonoroo 2. They attended the 2nd Annual Songwriters By the Bay with some of the top songwriters from the region, including Nate Clendenen, Jordan Sokel, Nancy Micciulla, Nate McCormick, Timothy Cooney, and more. Captain Blue's Grass Band moved back into the festival scene in 2016 with an appearance at the Wilmington Wintergrass Festival, Dover's Comic-Con, and debuted at the Historic Avalon Theater in Easton, MD in support of their friends Rivers and Rhodes. After many more shows and long recording sessions, their sophomore album "Right in Time," was released on January 18th, 2019 to a sold-out crowd at The Rockshop Performing Arts Center alongside The High and Wides. In June of 2019 CBGB performed during Smyrna at Night with The Susquehanna Floods, Hoochie Coochie, and Robert Randolph and the Family Band. Although 2020 was a tough year for musicians the world over, Captain Blue's Grass Band was able to perform at one of their favorite regional festivals, the 29th annual Delmarva Folk Festival alongside Mike Weyrauch, Tyler Sjostrom, and the Swamp Weasels. In 2021 they performed at the first annual KettleJam music festival in Houston, DE sharing the stage with talent like The Plate Scrapers, Cabinet, Muskrat Lightning, The Dee Maple Band, The Blue Wave Ramblers, and many more. Since 2022, they’ve continued to write, record, and perform across the region. In 2024 they performed at the 36th Annual Caroline Summerfest. Despite their hair migrating, losing its pigmentation, they’re slowly becoming one of their favorite musical subjects- local folklore, stalking familiar haunts.
